The Fenix ReadySet is a plug & play, portable energy system that empowers entrepreneurs to deliver essential energy services and earn significant new income while reducing carbon emissions and maximizing social benefit. The ReadySet’s flexible and intelligent battery charges from virtually any source including solar panels, bicycle dynamos, as well as grid/mains power. The Fenix Velo is a sturdy 100 Watt peak bicycle generator that installs in seconds and charges the ReadySet in one hour. The Fenix Solar is a rugged 15 Watt solar panel that charges the ReadySet in one day’s time. The ReadySet powers applications ranging from lights and radios to tablets and Wi-Fi hotspots, and is capable of charging 10 mobile phones on a full charge and multiple phones simultaneously. Fenix offers a variety of ReadySet compatible accessories for phone charging, lighting, health, education and entertainment that empower entrepreneurs in frontier markets to generate substantial and sustainable income that pays for the system in less than six months. The ReadySet is an open-platform and Fenix is collaborating with students, startups and other companies to create new charging technologies and applications to dramatically improving the quality of life in off-grid communities.

Management

Mike Lin – Chief Executive Officer – Mike is the founder and CEO of Fenix International. A serial entrepreneur, Mike previously founded Vestal Design, an award-winning design firm, and B.MINIMA, an eco-solutions company. He has also lectured environmental engineering and design at Stanford as well as social entrepreneurship at Yale. Mike has served on the board of advisors to several eco-startups, consulted for Apple on climate change and environmental toxins, advised a sustainable design project with the d.school and Wal-Mart and worked with Al Gore on the “Inconvenient Truth” presentation as part of The Climate Project. Mike is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) accredited professional, a recipient of the US Environmental Protection Agency's People, Prosperity and the Planet (P3) Award, Popular Mechanics Breakthrough Award and BusinessWeek IDEA Award. Mike earned both his BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University.
Brian Warshawsky – Chief Operations Officer - Brian is a seasoned entrepreneur, engineer and operations manager with experience in fast-growth, high-volume consumer electronics manufacturing. Brian was an early member of the Apple iPod operations team, and was the operations lead for the development and introduction of the iPod mini. Brian went on to manage the introduction of a number of iPod products and manufacturing processes, and was responsible for evaluating and bringing up new production facilities in Taiwan, China, and Europe. Brian has also worked at startups in Boston and San Francisco, including co-founding Potenco. Brian earned a BS from Brown University and MS in Materials Engineering from MIT.

What are you looking for in India

We are closing our Series B financing in Q1 2012, and interested in syndicating with investors with expertise in India. We are also interested in forging strategic partnerships in sales, marketing, distribution, after-sales service, and recycling as well as meeting manufacturing partners in India to augment our capacity currently in China.
