Business

Waste 2 Watts (W2W) is a for-profit social venture aimed at addressing energy poverty in emerging markets. W2W’s flagship product is the Enzi, a low-cost uninterruptible power supply that protects attached equipment from surges and sags and provides extended back-up power during power outages. The device is affordable for consumers in developing countries because most of the most expensive manufactured components are sourced from re-purposed electronic waste.  W2W has won nearly $55k in prizes from numerous international business plan competitions, and has deployed 3rd iteration prototypes for pilot testing and customer feedback in multiple countries in Africa, South America, and SE Asia.

Social and Environmental Impact

In addition to a significant return on investment, with over $100M  in projected revenues within 5 years,  Waste 2 Watts will improve the energy position of nearly a million individuals.  Through development of micro-franchise product factories, W2W will provide training, entrepreneurial, and economic opportunities to local communities in India.  With a target of 500,000 units in 5 years, Waste 2 Watts will directly avert the impact of nearly 500 million power outages and re-purpose nearly 2 million pounds of electronic waste through product sales.
